Saab stands for "Svenska Aeroplan AktieBolaget". The company was founded in 1937, the first car prototype was shown in 1947. Production
started in 1950. In 1990 General Motors bought 51% of the company, and from 2000 100% of Saab belongs to GM. In 2010 GM sold Saab to Spyker Cars N.V.,
and in 2011 Saab struggled to avoid insolvency. In 2012 it was announced that the National Electric Vehicle Sweden had bought Saab Automobile's bankruptcy estate.
